Business Council

Every year Gujarati Samaj hosts a reception when minister from state of Gujarat visit New York. During the Gujarat Din celebration we honor Outstanding members of the community from different professions. In 1998 we have organized the first business educational workshop and expo to provide outstanding networking opportunities for business members with government and private financial institutions.

Cultural Programs

Diwali Dinner: Every year close to one thousand members of Samaj celebrate New Year festivities and share joy and happiness amongst each other. This has become a milestone because this event attracts all sections of the society.

Drama: Gujarati Samaj has hosted numerous popular dramas in last two decades.

Folk Dance: Under leadership of Bhartiben Desai Samaj has won several regional and National awards for Garba and folkdance.

Gujarat Din: It has become customary tradition to celebrate independence day for state of Gujarat on May 1. This is one of the most popular program of the year. Event is filled with entertainment, recognition of outstanding Guajarti community members and feast of traditional Gujarati food under colorful decor and clothing.

Katha: For the past few years this has become one of our most inspiring and fulfilling events. For 10 days members of the Gujarati community along with parents cherish spiritual chants and philosophy from several respected gurus like H.H. Rameshbhai Oza, Yogendra Bhatt and Bhupendra Pandya, just to name few.

Kavi Sammelan: World known Gujarati Poets have recited their poems before the literature lovers.

Picnic: Every Summer members, and their friends, take advantage of our picnic and have fun and frolic together.

Satyanarayan Katha / Gayatri Yagna: Every year we perform one of the two to get off to a good start.

Health Expo

Every year on the 2^nd Sunday in September, Health Awareness Expo is organized by several well known physicians and a health care team of the Gujarati Samaj of New York at the Gujarati Samaj Hall.

We conduct an educational workshop to create awareness. The following services are being offered:

• Body fat analysis by a registered and certified nutritionist and information on medical nutrition therapy.
  
  
• Blood pressure check, diabetic test, cholesterol check, mammogram, sonogram, EKG, dental, eye and lung check up.
  
  
• A team of physicians will be providing their services; like Internists, Cardiologists, Gynecologists, Pediatrician, Urologist, Respiratory Therapist, Gastroenterologist, Orthopedic Surgeon, Pulmonary and Allergy Specialist & Opthamologist.
  
  
• A team of social workers will be giving information on alcohol and drug abuse, HIV and AIDS prevention and any other family related issues.

We have helped needy people with free medicine, healthcare and other financial resources from time to time.

Senior Citizen

Parents of several members of Samaj visit from India frequently and a large number of them also migrated as permanent residents.

Their challenge is to adjust to the new environment and social networking. Due to the central location of the Samaj community center, we have been doing projects of interest to Senior Citizens.
